II Corinthians 10:3-5 We tend to forget so quickly that our enemies are not people, especially they are not those within the walls of our church. We are confronting an enemy who knows that his time is short and as the "accuser of the brethren," (Revelation 12:10) and one who has come to "steal, kill and destroy," (John 10:10) is seeking to do just that relative to your and my walk with Christ in this world. If we remain ignorant of who the real enemy is or of the weapons we have at our disposal or how to use them; he has, to say the least, made us ineffective relative to whatever impact our lives in Christ might have had on a dying world. Have you noticed that the closer we try to get to God the more intense the battle seems to get. when you try to do things right, everything seems to go wrong. Read I Samuel 17:47 and II Chronicles 20:15 - the battle is not ours, but God's. Human weapons have no effect. Let's review some of the things God puts at our disposal. Luke 11:13 says that the Holy Spirit will be given to those who ask. Don't forget the Spiritual armor of Ephesians 6:10-20 with the sword of the Spirit and "all kinds of prayer". There is the ministry of angels in Hebrews 1:14. Revelation 12:11 talks about how the saints overcame Satan "by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; ..." The various gifts of the Holy Spirit mentioned in I Corinthians 12 & 14 are valuable in our warfare. The gift, "discerning of spirits" is especially helpful. James 1:5 tells to ask for wisdom when we need it. Matthew 6:18 and Acts13:2 tell of the rewards that come from proper fasting. It is all well and good to list the tools, but how does one use them. Spend time in fellowship with God. Let the Holy Spirit develop obedience in you. Get rid of the "do it yourself attitude."
