God Will Help You - He Won't Make You!
Philippians 2:12-16. Our Scripture for today, tells us to work out our Salvation with fear and trembling. This is not to earn your salvation, Jesus did that on the cross and you receive it by faith; but, what will you do with the salvation He has entrusted to you? It might be compared to being put in charge of a house on a piece of property. The house is beautifully decorated furnished and landscaped. It is up to you how you will maintain it, what you will put into it and for what purposes you will use it. The understanding is that in the end you will give an ac counting of how you've used the property. Until then your free to let it run down, party in it, keep wild animals, garbage, etc. in it. Or you can get a copy of the instruction manual. You can discover what pleases the manufacturer. You can invite Him in often as a guest and seek His advice. You can invite people in that you feel need to know Him. You can keep your yard clean and your house freshly painted. Our bodies and souls are much like the house. When we finish with life on this earth, what will we have to present to God on that day? Will we bear the family resemblance of Jesus, or will we more nearly resemble a "dog dropping" in the street? Only we, as individuals can make that decision. God will certainly give us every resource and opportunity to make a life that resembles Jesus; but He will not build it for us. 1 Cor. 3:11-13 "For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. [12] If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, [13] his work will be shown for what it is, be cause the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man's work.
