God's Recipe
Phil. 4:4-9. When you are sick, have a pain, or something goes wrong, what is the first thing that comes to mind? Often, we complain, reach for a pill, tell someone how bad we're having it. There is generally a good deal of worry sprinkled in. That's how most of the world handles things, but God's advice through the apostle Paul us: "Rejoice in the Lord always, I will say it again: Rejoice!" You notice that Paul doesn't say to rejoice when things are going well or when your team wins the World Series, but he says to rejoice always. Very often, from a human perspective, there is absolutely nothing to rejoice about. He really caps it when he says don't be anxious about anything. To worry is a humanly natural thing to do and to not worry takes a conscious decision of our will. There are several things to keep in mind: 1. our worrying doesn't accomplish anything; 2. God does have things under control; 3. He gives us an opportunity for positive input - He says make your requests known. Will our problems magically go away? Not always, but it sure will change the way we think about things. I believe that God will help us with a solution that please Him and helps us through the dilemma.
