Got Oil?
Matthew 25:1-13 The advertisement reminds us that there are times when we shouldn't be without milk. As in when you find yourself with a plate of cookies, etc. There are other things that there are times when it' s especially bad news to be without. For example, fuel oil for heat on a sub zero day, or gasoline for your car when you' re in the middle of no where. There is another substance that it is especially bad news to be without and that is the Holy Spirit oil of salvation when Je sus comes back - that will cost you your eternity. When I say, "Got Oil?" - that's the kind I'm talking about. Jesus illustrates the point by describing ten virgins who are waiting for the groom to return so that they can be ready to join him at the wedding feast. Their lamps need to be burning during the feast. They doze off while they are waiting and when they awaken five of them discover that they don't have nearly enough oil for the feast and when they learn that the others don't have enough to loan they rush off to buy some more. When they return, the bride groom has arrived, and the door is locked, and they are not admitted. Don't wait until last minute to get your relationship with Christ in order. We don't know when He's returning. We need to keep our relationships continuously fresh, by spending time in the Word and in fellowship with Him and being about His business.
