He is calling us to worship

What is worship? What is He calling us to? Is He calling us to a "worship service"? Worship often happens at such a time, but the meeting together is not worship in itself. is He calling us to sing praise songs? They're great and worship often happens but songs in themselves are not worship? Is He calling us to prayer? Certainly, but prayer in itself is not necessarily worship. Jesus said to the woman at the well, that they that worshiped God must "worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth."(John 4 23-24). In Bible times when a special guest came they would kill and prepare the 'fatted calf'. Sometimes we might buy some special steaks and put them in the freezer for a special occasion. When a special friend comes that we haven t seen for some time drops in - we don't feed them leftovers. How often do give God the left-overs. We can sing a song and it comes out of our memory or off the overhead and never passes through our mind and heart. Real worship comes when that place of our spirit is torn open and His presence pours out and floods the rest of our being. When His truth strips away the trash and the barriers between us, and it's our spirit and His in sweet communion.
