Everything You Need
2 Peter 1:3-4 "His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness." The source of everything we need is the divine power of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Eph. 1:18-20 tells us that His power that is at work in us is the same power that raised Jesus form the dead. Romans 1:16 tells us that the gospel, is "the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes." 2 Cor. 12:9 "My grace sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Read also in Acts 1:8; 1 Cor. 1:18; 1 Cor. 2:4,5; 2 Cor. 10:4; Eph. 3:16; Eph. 3:20; Col. 1:11; 2 Tim. 1:7. These all tell us how God' s power is available and at work in our lives as Christians as we walk in Him. He has given us "everything we need for life and godliness." There will never be a time when He will have to say, "Sorry, I didn't take that into account." That' s why Paul could say in Phil. 4:13 "I can do everything through him who gives me strength." This includes our daily lives and our eternal lives. It' s telling us that we can do it in a way that will bring glory to our God. Our Scripture goes on to tell us that this comes through our knowledge of Him. A computer can be a place to play fun games, but if that' s all you know how to do, your investment was a waste. Ignorance is a terrible thief. It' s far worse if we' re ignorant of the resources that God has made available to us. Verse 4 of our Scripture tells us that "He's given us "His very great and precious promises so that through them we can participate in the divine nature." They can do us very little good unless we discover what they are and learn to walk in them. Spend time reading and meditating on the Word. Talk to God about them. Practice walking in them. You'll soon discover that you do have everything you need to please Him.
