Hold on a Little Longer

II Corinthians 4:16-5:10 Many years ago I had a co-worker who said, "It could go on like this for days before it gets any worse." He also said, "I' m crazy and I've got papers to prove it." Sometimes you feel that it couldn't possibly get any worse, and it does. There are some important nuggets in our Scripture. The important thread of truth that runs throughout is that we are not at the end and what is, is not what is going to be. It is important where we fix our eyes (our attention). On the outside things are falling apart, getting old, decaying, etc. but on the inside - we are being renewed day by day, in fact our struggles are working glory. What we see is only temporary, but what God is making out of it, that we can't see with our natural senses, will last for eternity. Our physical bodies are compared with what is to come - the mansion that Jesus has gone to prepare for us. There really does not seem to be adequate words to describe what's coming, but He's given us a taste with the deposit of the Holy Spirit in our lives. With that deposit He's placed within us a longing, and a homesickness. Probably the most important verse in this section is 5:7 "We live by faith, not by sight." God's Word is the truth, anything that doesn't match is a misrepresentation. Our perception of our situations needs to move to what God says about it. Our feelings are true because we feel the way we feel, but if they say differently than God's Word, then they do not describe reality. Let's learn to say with Paul, that whatever the situation, our goal is to please the Lord. Hold on a little longer!
