How Do I Stand?

II Timothy 3:1-9 As we read through this list in chapter 3, we will be quick to acknowledge that this certainly describes our day - it's all around us. Those who know Jesus as Savior and Lord rejoice be because it means that He will soon be coming back for us. But let's not be too quick to allow it to bring condemnation only to those outside. I won der, if we were honest with ourselves, would we not see at least the seeds of many of these traits in our own lives? The word for love that is used in today's scripture is based on the Greek word which means "brotherly love." It is an affection for and concern for those we live in association with. Those described in these verses have projected that love to themselves, and possessions. Their love for pleasure exceeds their love for God. It says they are without love. It's time we took a close look at our "brotherly love" life. Where is its primary focus? If we see pride, boasting, lying, unforgiveness, ingratitude beginning to creep in, then it's time to begin taking action. How is our godliness or as some might say our spirituality? Is it only a front to cover up what is really inside? Or are we truly attempting to allow the character of Jesus to show in our lives? Paul goes on to say, "always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth." There are a lot of people who read the Word, go to church and Bible studies, but never say "that's talking about me, I need to take it seriously and make some changes in my life." How about you? Are there things that need attention? Do you need to repent? If so, don't put it off!
