How Hopeless is hopeless?
Mark 5:21-43 Many if not all of us have been in situations in which we have felt absolutely hopeless. Perhaps some of you are in that position right now. There are just no answers. No one understands, no one seems to even care. You've waited and prayed and hoped, but nothing... Jairus, a synagogue ruler, had a daughter who was dying. He came to Jesus, thinking; If I can just get Jesus to her in time, she won't die. There were so many people; and this woman who came and touched Jesus was healed. All that was great but, valuable time was being wasted - my daughter is dying. What if He doesn't get there in time. Then his worst fear was fulfilled. The news came while they were on the way, "Your daughter is dead, why bother the teacher anymore?" It was too late. It was all over. Might just as well give up and go home. In the mind of Jairus and his family there were no more answers. Jesus was not finished yet. He said to Jairus, "Don't be afraid; just believe." Didn't Jesus hear what was just said - she's dead! Which part of dead didn't He understand. You see, although Jairus couldn't perceive a solution; God does not depend on our ability to understand. No detail in our lives has ever taken God by surprise. Before it ever happened, God had a perfect plan. Romans 8:28 "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Abraham had a grasp of this when he was willing to sacrifice his only son even when logically speaking it would have destroyed every promise God had made to him. Those five words that Jesus spoke to Jairus contain the secret of living victorious in the kingdom. "Don't be afraid, just believe." Learn to trust God - practice in the small things. God cannot lie nor, will His Word ever fail. He has made us eternal beings and some things cannot take place until we go home. "Don't be afraid, just believe."
