Keep on Keeping On
Romans 12:9-13. There is never a time to lay aside the new character that God has placed within us. We must keep on being what He's called us to be. We must keep on keeping on! Circumstances in and of themselves must never be used to determine what the will of God is for us. God's will, however, when it is brought into our circumstances, brings out the truth in Romans 8:28 "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." It is God's Word that determines His will in a situation not the other way around. The admonitions of Rom. 12:9-13 require a decision of your will, but all the human will power, and abilities put together can never get the job done. Only God's Spiritual power drawn from the bank of heaven, through faith in His Word, can give us the ability to do what He asks us to do: "To love sincerely", "To honor one another above ourselves." This is not too hard when people are nice to us, but often people are not nice to us, and in the flesh, we want to do anything but love them. Notice that it says sincerely, don't try to fake it, call for your heavenly help. As individuals we are each responsible before God to show the love of Christ to those around us regardless of what another does. As a body of Christ none of us are excused from the responsibility of this kind and quality of service. Age, sex, color, handicap, etc. must never be' an excuse since it is only by God's grace and power that anyone can achieve this level of character. Let us call upon God as individuals. Let us call upon God as His body. Let us be "Christ" in the eyes of our community.
