Light

Matthew 5:14-16 the idea of light shines all through God's Word, but its application for us today is perhaps most clearly given in the gospel of Matthew 5:14-16. Jesus tells his disciples (and ultimately, all Christians) that "you are the light of the world," a title he himself claims in John 8:14. What a great privilege, but what an awesome responsibility! On the one hand, our Savior grants us the honor of being vessels through which he can shine his light. This is so that others may see Jesus in our lives and come to know him. On the other hand, just as with the fruit we bear, (see John Chapter 15) we are responsible for the quality of light that shines through us. If we are unfaithful with the light of Jesus, we will be held accountable. (See Mark 8:38) the good news is, once we are saved, we are given the light of life! How is your light shining?
