Open to Opportunities

Acts 8:26-35 Have you ever noticed that generally one finds what they're looking for? - especially when it comes to kinds of people or situations. If one is looking for trouble - he will usually find it. If one is looking for good things or people, that can usually be found also. Things that make eternal differences in the kingdom of God; however, are spiritually discerned. One needs to pray, "Lord, cause me to be aware and take notice of opportunities for doing the work of Your Kingdom. Prepare me so that I might be able take advantage of the opportunities. Help me to keep myself clean before you so that I will not be disqualified." Eph. 5:15-17 says it very well, "Be very careful, then, how you live--not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore, do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is." In our Scripture today, Philip listened to the Holy Spirit (Angel of the Lord) and more important he instantly obeyed what he was told to do. Notice He wasn't told all at once. First, he was given a direction, then the more specifics. I think we miss a lot of opportunities by asking too many questions. Don't wait for money, tools, time or abilities, but use what He's given you with the skills He provides you with at the time. More times than not God will enable us to do far beyond our abilities. He's looking for obedience in our lives.
