Our God is an Awesome God
We must be careful not to define God by our standards of holiness, righteousness, goodness, kindness, love, etc., rather it is in Him that these words come to have meaning. Anything less falls far short of who He is. When He is the standard the limitations fall away, and the meanings become infinite. The other way around He is limited by our capacity to understand and imagine. See Eph. 3:20 "...able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine..." If we want just a glimpse into His Love and Holiness, we see God before there was anything at all, seeing His creature, man, whom He was yet to create, and loving him. Loving him in spite of the rebellion and sin He knew was to come. In His holiness, He knew that the sin question had to be dealt with. He, Himself, in the person of His only Son, was the only answer to the sin question. That answer could only come in the brutal, humiliating death on the cross. Knowing all this, His love was so great that He proceeded to create the rebellious creature, man. His Love went far, even beyond this. His plan was to so take care of the sin question that He could seat us together with Christ in the heavenly realms, give us eternal life, declare us to be righteous, call us His children, make us joint heirs with His Son to rule and reign with Him in eternity. Yet our God is infinitely more than even this. Truly we serve an awesome God. Let us never even consider settling for less than all He has made available.
