Perseverance

Mark 2:1-12 Ever wondered why you never seemed to accomplish what you were trying to get done? That God seemed to answer everyone else's prayers but yours. Many times, we tend to give up and quit before the job's done. We use such excuses as: It was just too big a job for me." or "Maybe it just wasn't God's will for me." or "I'm not good enough." Etc. Often victory comes when we get to the end of our faith and ability and keep on for just a little longer. Perseverance is an important key. We learn to persevere in the things that are self-destructive and harmful to us. "Job one" is to seek to discover whether the thing we are about is consistent with God's Word and character. Don't expect God to prosper and bless you in an area that He is not in. Secondly, is this a direction that God is taking me now - have I asked Him about it? Keep in mind that God is not so much interested in stuff as He is in people. If you've got the green light, hang on and don't let go until you've got the job done or God gives you other directions. Our Scripture tells of some men who were trying to bring a paralyzed man to Jesus for healing. It was not possible for them to get in the door or even a window because of the people crowded tightly inside. They knew that they were supposed to get that man to Jesus, not on the following day or next week but at that particular time. In their persistence and creativity, they cut a hole in the roof and lowered him to Jesus. Jesus did the rest.
