Discouragement Satan's Weapon of Opportunity!
Discouragement: no one else cares, I'm in this battle alone, I'm tired, sometimes I feel that God doesn't even know or care what's happening to me, etc... etc. You could probably add many more items to the above list. Most of have felt that way from time to time and feel guilty about it, often wanting to just take our "ball and bat" and go home. The prophet Elijah felt that way at least once. (Read about it in I Kings 19f. He had just had a tremendous victory an Mt. Carmel, 450 prophets of Baal were put to death, and God showed His mighty hand. Then Jezebel put a warrant out for him and he ran Why would he do that? He had the enemy by the throat. It was that word of discouragement spoken at just the right moment. Maybe you've had a victory., your tired, you laid your sword down, and the enemy was at your throat. I'm reminded of a time in Seminary when I was particularly discouraged, I sought council from one of my professors. After I told him of my problems, he simply asked me if God had ever let me down before, when I answered no, he reminded me that God wouldn't this time either. John 8:32 says that "...you will know the truth and the truth will set you free." When Israel was preparing to go into the promised land one of the key words was "Remember” how the Lord led you, etc. “Remember” it is Jesus who is Victor, and it is His battle not ours. When you know the truth, you know when you hear a lie. Read Rev. 20:7-10 and see who loses. See who wins. Rev. 21:1-7.
