Ready to Move
II Corinthians 5:1-10 How would you like to move to a different place and into a different house. I look at all the things I have in the house and in the basement and in the office and the whole prospect is frightening. But, what if while you were living where you are you already had this other house and could, over a long period of time, begin to move things to it and model it just the way you wanted it to be. Our Scripture today talks about our physical life here as being a tent that we are living in and about a "heavenly dwelling" that one day we will be moving into. You know, we really can move things in ahead of time. Matthew 6:20 talks about storing up treasures in Heaven. We can also begin to do some building, look at I Corinthians 3:10-17 Make sure the things you love the best are going to be there, like your friends and loved ones. If our lives are all wrapped up in things and habits and amusements and people who aren't going to be there, then we probably wouldn't have the least desire to move. We certainly do need to take as good a care of the body we're living in as we can, and yes, we certainly do need to be good stewards of what He has given us; but unless our lives are built around an intense longing for our real home; then all that we can amass here is quite pointless. Read again I Corinthians 3:13. All that's built around our lives in the flesh will be burned up. After all isn't it trash that's burned?
