Natural Instincts or the Holy Spirit?

Jude 17-21 Jude's words are those of warning and instruction for those living in the last days. "In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires." He goes on to say that these are ones who divide you and follow their own natural instincts, When the natural instincts are obviously ungodly, there will not be too much trouble discerning the things that are not of God. Outright sin, although it is tenacious, it can be seen for what it is, and can be dealt with without repercussion from the body. Some of the most dangerous sources of division come from those who are well endowed with "common sense", and who, perhaps, have gained some Bible knowledge. It is when these people began to depend on their natural instincts, rather than on the Holy Spirit of God that divisions and course changes that do not reflect the will of God begin to occur. The council sounds godly, it seems right, but it misses the target. Jude give three simple but profound measures to take to avoid this problem. 1. Build yourselves up on your most holy faith. 2. Pray in the Holy Spirit. 3. Keep yourselves in God's love... Practice presenting your ideas, and the ideas presented by others to God. Get in the habit of inquiring of Him. Let the Holy Spirit give you the yes or no. It will require spending time in the Word and in fellowship with God, but your Spiritual ear will begin to be tuned. If you pray in tongues, use it. If not, spend time concentrating on Him and in silence let your spirit reach out and worship Him, as you minister unto Him, He will minister unto you. Keep yourself in His love. Seek to discover ways to please Him, Let this become your top priority.
