Do you need a second chance?

There was a man by the name of Jonah. He happened to be a prophet that God used from time to time to deliver His messages to the people. Jonah didn't mind too much as long as he got to deliver the right messages to the right people. One-day God asked him to go tell his enemies the way they could escape being destroyed. He thought he had a better idea, so he decided to take a trip in the opposite direction. Needless to say he got himself into all kinds of trouble and endangered the lives of some innocent sailors. He ended up in the process of suffocating in a fish’s stomach in the bottom of the ocean. When he finally realized that his plan wasn't working, he tried calling out to God and repenting. God told him again and he went. Except for the details, this could describe a lot of us. Trying to do our own thing and nothing seems to be working. Do you suppose that if we tried calling out to God? And repenting - that God just might give us the opportunity to try again?
