A Return on His Investment
In the parable of the tenants, in Luke 20:9-19, there are a couple important lessons for us to learn. When a farmer rents or leases his land, he expects to either be paid in money or to receive a portion of the crops as payment for the use of the land. God has entrusted to us: a world, a country a city, a family, a church, a life and there will be a time for accounting for the way we have handled our share. You see, we have the erroneous idea that if it's in my pocket, the bank account with my name on, or it' s registered in my name, then I have the right to do with it whatever I please period! Legally, in most cases you can. However, in that all things belong to God, even your very selves, He can and will hold us accountable for how we have used the time, talents, and material things that He has put under our control. As we faithfully use these things for the good of the kingdom, He gives us the freedom to use some of it for our pleasure. I Timothy 5:18 For the Scripture says, "Do not muzzle the ox while it is treading out the grain," and "The worker deserves his wages." The second major lesson is that Christ has been made the corner stone, and everything else will be made to conform to Him. We are not free to make up our own rules. V18 says that, "Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces, but he on whom it falls will be crushed." see. I Cor. 3:10-15
