The Place of Rest That Comes by Faith

Romans 1:17 Tells us "For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: The righteous will live by faith.- Those who will not move to a place of total trust and faith in God and His provision and enablement, will never be able to enter into the rest that is provided for in our relationship with God. When God rested on the seventh day after creation, He rested because the work was complete and needed no improvement. The children of Israel were commanded to rest on the seventh or Sabbath day. They were not to work at supplying their own needs, but to depend upon God and rest in His sufficiency. Neh. 10:31 says, "... Every seventh year we will forgo working the land and will cancel all debts." They were not to work their land for a whole year. Each seventh year they were to trust God that the land would provide enough on its own to get them through until planting and harvest came around again. They didn't trust God, and as a result they never entered into the rest. God had to put them in exile to finally give the land the rest it needed. Most of the time we also fail to enter into His rest because of the same kind of unbelief. The Sabbath and the tithe are both serious tests of our willingness to trust God. Basically, it's deciding just who is our source of supply, are we or is God. Try to think of other areas that we can walk by faith and not by sight.
