A Workman Who Is not Ashamed

Scripture: II Timothy 2:14-19 In order to be a good workman one must have clear knowledge of his job. When that job involves lifestyle and quality of character, then the person needs to have a clear understanding of what that involves. To argue over a word and endlessly chatter and speculate over words and phrases is pointless. The point of this Scripture is to put great effort into translating the Word into a lifestyle that is both pleasing to God and leaves one equipped to be a workman in the kingdom. It is not enough just to understand it and be able to explain it. The point is to be able to live it and use it to reach a world of people who are lost and dying. This can' t be done by a body of people who don't realize that the enemy is not the one across the room in church. Churches with people who fight amongst themselves can be found on every street- corner. Let's let people know that we are Christians by the way we love one another. We can be workmen with no need to be ashamed because we know our God and know that He knows us. We can hold our heads up because we know what we were, and we know where we're going, and we've found a way to live that works. We can offer a people who are tired of living with no hope a way to put real meaning into their lives.
