Tuning Our Lives to Please God

I Thessalonians 4:1-8 For those who have ever wondered, 'What is God's will for my life Here is a good starting point. Verse 2 very plainly says that "it is God's will that you should be sanctified..." To be sanctified is to be "holy", to be set apart for God. Like salvation, sanctification is a three-part process. We are sanctified from the moment of our salvation, I Corinthians 6.11. We are to be progressively sanctified or made holy as is described in today's Scripture. Thirdly, the process will be complete when we arrive in heaven and are declared "blameless and holy" I Thessalonians. 3:13 The idea that, "It is my body I can do with it what I want to!" especially for the person who wishes to please God is completely mistaken. Look at: 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 'Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God' You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your body.' The KJV adds: "...and in your spirit Which are God's." Paul says to the church at Thessalonica you're doing these things which please God, but I urge you to do so more and more. The primary message of this passage is about sexual immorality. Paul says, avoid it, learn to control your body. Control is something we learn, it doesn't come naturally. James says that the tongue is the most difficult of our member to control; I believe our sexual appetite comes in a mighty close second. The only Biblical exercise of this appetite is one man and one woman in marriage. Verse 7 says, 'God did not call us to be impure but to live a holy life. Let's work at fine tuning our desire and ability to please God.
