We Are His Workmanship

Ephesians. 2:8-10 Have you ever thought of yourself as a product of God's personal workmanship. When you came to Christ with the faith that God gave you as a gift, He "hand crafted" you into a special Instrument to be used in His kingdom, for His Glory. His Kingdom consists of good works that He put in place in advance. The plan is not so much that He places individual items in place with our name on them, although He does do that on occasion; but His plan is that we develop a life style that is characterized by good works. The plan is that as we move about in our life situations and the Holy Spirit places in our paths opportunities to do kingdom things (good works), we as second nature participate in what God is doing. Just as in Jesus' life, He is described in Acts 10:38, "...He went around doing good..." I'm sure that as Jesus walked about the streets of Israel there were many that were not healed, or not fed. There were several occasions where we are told that He healed them all, but most of the time, not. He met the needs of the ones who asked, the ones He recognized that had faith to receive, and the ones that the Father said, "this one". (John 5:19) Jesus said in John 14: l0 b "...it is the Father, living in me, who is doing His work." Again, He says in John 15:5, "apart from me you can do nothing." What is all this telling us? Everything we have and are, are from God. We are like a musical instrument. The only thing that the instrument can do by itself is to gather dust. We weren't designed to play ourselves. That is why we have been given the Holy Spirit. He is the musician who is to be playing our instruments. How can we know when He is playing and when we are? Pray for wisdom and discernment; ask Him where He would like to play your instrument today. As you learn to be obedient and to get out of His way, you'll discover how much more beautiful the music sounds, and how much more is accomplished.
