What Does the Resurrection Mean to Me?
Have you ever wondered what the big deal was that Jesus rose from the dead and why what happened so long ago is still important? I Cor. 15:6, Paul tells us that 500 people at one time saw Jesus alive after He had been crucified. He goes on to tell us in verse 17 that, "if Christ has not been raised then our faith is vain, and we are still in our sins". The Jesus' virgin birth is important, the fact that He lived a sinless life is important, His atoning death is essential; but if there is no resurrection, then all is meaningless. If there was no resurrection for Him then there is no resurrection for us, and if there is no resurrection for us then we can live as we like and then just die -- that's all. But, Praise God! He did rise and is alive, and because He did, we will, and spread before us is a choice. Where will we spend the eternity that lies before us? We can live separated from Him here, which means we will live separated from Him in eternity. Or we can live with and for Him now and also spend our eternity in His presence. It's our Choice! What will your choice be?
