Been with Jesus?
Acts 4:8-15 Are folks able to see in your actions, attitude and behavior that you’ve been with Jesus. I don’t mean that you read the Bible and prayed this morning, as important as that is; but did you in the time that you spent with Him, did you connect? Do you know that you touched Him and that He touched you? Where you changed in that encounter? Do you look at the world, yourself, and other people differently? Do you have a boldness, compassion and concern that you didn’t have before? If this is not true of you then perhaps you haven’t really gotten serious in your relationship with Him. The truth is that He wants that kind of relationship with you. We certainly need to spend time and get the Word into us. We need to learn as much about Him as we possibly can. Along with this, however, we need to seek His face, to get to know Him as a real person that loves us and wants us to know Him. He wants to touch us and for us to touch Him. Notice Peter and John, two uneducated fishermen. They were men of common language and dress. They were probably much like the average person on the street, in the factory, or in the market place, nobody special. The difference was that they had been immersed in Jesus for three years. They had been in the upper room and filled with the Holy Spirit. They had touched Jesus and Jesus had touched them. When they saw the lame man at the temple, they didn’t have the penny that the man expected, but they had a checkbook from the bank of heaven and wrote him a check for healing and introduced him to Jesus. The only explanation for actions of Peter and John was that they had been with Jesus. The only way that there is going to be a change in our lives or that we will have anything to offer anyone is when we have spent time touching Jesus. As you touch Him, ask Him to show you how to touch others with Him. The more you give Jesus away, the more you will have to give.
