Do You Realize How Much You Have Been Forgiven?

Luke 7:36-50 How much have you been forgiven? How big of a debt load of sin do you carry around? Perhaps your estimate of it depends on how much it impinges on what you want to do. On whether it keeps you from getting that job or apartment or that desired relationship with a member of the opposite sex. If you think you're not such a bad person, that you sin occasionally but no big deal, sure you'd like to be forgiven but no hurry, when you get around to it — you're relationship with God is "ho hum” That's basically the condition of the Pharisee in whose house Jesus was a guest. True, he had invited Jesus as a guest in his house but treated as a lower class than one would normally treat one who came into his house. Usually the guest was greeted appropriately and offered water to wash his feet. Jesus did not receive the normal common courtesy of that day. In fact, the host begin to mentally observe the "ignorance" of Jesus because He obviously didn't realize what kind of a woman was touching Him and making such fuss. After all, everybody knew that she was a prostitute and would have immediately cast her aside. I’m sure the Pharisee was quite surprised when Jesus picked up on his thoughts and told him the story of the two debtors who had been forgiven their debts. One owed more than a year and half's worth of income and the other only a couple of months. Jesus asked him the question, "Which one was the most grateful?" Jesus, in essence, told him, "obviously you didn't feel that your forgiveness was such a big deal judging from you're greeting and your attitude. This woman, on the other hand, knew who she was and what she needed and where to get it. And she has received it." Our attitude toward our salvation and our relationship with the Lord may be an indication of how much we value our forgiveness. Think about it!!
