Expecting a Harvest?
II Corinthians 9:6-11 How many times have you heard, relative to your experience here at Alpha and Omega Ministries, that “you get out of it just what you put into it."? It is based on a Biblical principle that works for both the saved and the unsaved and drives everything from the farmer to the stock market. Chief enemies in the process are stinginess and impatience. We tend to want to invest as little as possible and reap instant abundance. It’s the lottery ticket mentality. Spend a buck for a ticket and win a million. Not only is real life not like that, God’s kingdom isn’t either. For an abundant return in God’s kingdom both attitude and motive play a big part. It calls for generous sowing. It calls for cheerful giving. It calls for the motive of giving more to receive more so that you will have more to give. Notice the promises that come from doing it God's way. In 2 Cor. 9:8 “And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." He gives you everything you need to be successful in every good work. Look at 2 Cor. 9:10-11 “Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. [11] You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanks-giving to God.” He not only supplies seed, but He increases the store of seed. The seed is what we invest in the kingdom. We harvest righteousness and are made rich in every way so that we can continue to be generous. It’s like the seed falling on the good soil, “...yielded a crop. A hundred times more than was sown.” Luke 8:8. You can’t out give God!
