Finding God's Peace

Philippians 4:4-7 Peace of heart and mind seems to be a rather rare commodity in today’s world. There doesn't seem to be peace between nations, within countries, in neighborhoods, in the church or even within ourselves. There always seems to be something to worry about or concerned with. Today s Scripture gives us a recipe for peace within our own hearts and minds. It has nothing to do with external circumstances. It has to do with the fact that all is well between our self and our God, that everything is ok about our past present and future; and that all is well within our own minds. It may sound odd to identify the first necessary ingredient of peace as being to "REJOICE!"! think that maybe Paul anticipated a “huh!”, so he repeats himself, "again I say, REJOICE!" We are to express joy, and to do so is both an expression of faith and trust. We are saying that We have faith in and trust God that He is who He says He is and that He not only is able but will do what He says He will do — for me! We are next to develop a reputation for gentleness towards everyone. We learn to deal with others as God deals with us. When we encounter things, we don t understand or can’t handle — we don t worry or be anxious — we pray and give thanks to the One who is in control and who has all the answers. It takes the heat off from us, and the peace of God puts us at rest.
