Have You Counted the Cost?

Luke 14:25-35 What is your walk with Christ worth? If you were called upon to make a choice between the cause of Christ and any of your prized possessions. What would you choose? If it were between your allegiance to Christ and your relationship with the closest of loved ones - What, then? We’re not often required to make that decision in a “Do it or die.” situation; but we really do make those decisions every day in the choices we make, and in the things, we do and say. If daily we make the wrong choices, how can we expect to make the right choices when life and death is in the balance. The two illustrations are, “put everything you have into it.” kinds of matters. The first is a contractor who is to build a tower. He has a reputation to uphold and certain resources to draw from. He is going to make sure he can finish the job before he starts it. The second example is a king who is about to go to war, because another king is marching toward his city with the intent to attack him. What will he do He has only half the soldiers that the enemy has. Does he have enough of an advantage in being on his own soil to make the difference or will he send a delegation to work out terms of peace? What He is saying is that when your life is on the line, everything is on the table. That’s what He’s asking of us when we follow Him. Everything on the table – nothing held back. That’s what He did for us - should we think that anything less would be expected of us?
