It Is Gods Will That We Be Sanctified
I Thessalonians 4:1-8. Verse three tells us that it is God's will that we should be sanctified, but what does that mean? I think in the mind of many that it means merely to be filled with the Holy Ghost, talk in tongues, shout a bit, and say all the right things. All these things may well happen, but that's not what being sanctified is all about. Basically, being sanctified is living holy and separated unto God in our daily lives. Paul, in I Thessalonians 4, breaks it on down. He says that it includes avoiding sexual immorality. It involves learning to control our own body in a way that is holy and honorable. It's saying to your body that "you're not going to do what you want to do just because you want to do it. It's what pleases or doesn't please God that decides whether it gets done or not. Body you're going to be clean and groomed in a way that will be a credit to Christ." Paul includes in the holiness package, that we are not to wrong or take advantage of our brothers, even if we have the power to do it, or even if no one will ever find out, or even if we perceive that it will "further the kingdom of God". We really can't get away from the fact that God wants His character developed in each of His children. He says, "Be holy, for I am holy.” As the song says, “Trust and obey for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey." verse 10 says, that anyone who rejects this instruction doesn't reject man, but rejects God Himself. Let us be yielded to let God do His complete work in us.
