New Creation in Christ
2 Corinthians. 5:17, Colossians 2:6-7 When we ask Jesus to come into our lives to be our Lord and Savior, He doesn't just come and recondition the person that we were. 2 Corinthians. 5:17 tells us that we are new creations, that the old has gone and the new come. What does that mean for us? It certainly doesn't mean that when we look in the mirror, we are now Bob instead of Paul or Mary rather than Jane. We will be the same in that respect. It does mean that the sin problem has been handled — they are now under the blood and forgiven. It does mean we now have a complete new set of tools, spiritual tools, with which to conduct our life situations. We now have the right, authority and ability to say no to Satan and his suggestions or demands, it does mean that Christ has given us everything we need for life and godliness (II Peter 1:3) In addition to that His life is an example, His Word is instructional, and His Spirit empowers us to live a godly and Christ like life. When I get a new piece of equipment or software, I generally read the manuals to see what this new piece is able to do, and what its power requirements are. One surely wouldn't plug equipment that needed a 6-volt battery into a 220-volt AC line. Nor would you try to run a 220-volt motor on a "AA" battery — even if it's “Ever-Ready”. We continue to be amazed when our "New Life in Christ" won’t run on a wind-up rubber band motor. We need a brand-new life installed — that comes when we accept Christ. We need the “Turbo Power of the Holy Ghost” to operate it — that comes in the package. We need the “Nuclear fuel” of God's Word to run it — we need to read and meditate on it. We need to learn to cooperate with the Holy Spirit as He works out God's will in this “New creation” that He's placed within us. Meditate on the fuel that is found in Romans 12:1 &2; Colossians 2:6-7; 3:16.
