The Grinch Has Another Name

Matthew 2:13-18 Jesus is the central theme of the universe. In John chapter one we are told that nothing was created that He didn’t create In Ephesians chapter one we are told that all things were made by Him and for Him. His coming was prophesied from the third chapter of Genesis and is a major theme throughout the Old Testament. His arrival in Bethlehem is the focal point of all history, in fact history is His-story. The prophesy, the ceremonies, the types, etc. all look forward to His birth, death and resurrection. Everything that has happened since look back on and depends on that series of events. It is interesting to notice how many times the Grinch A.K.A. Satan has tried to frustrate God’s perfect plan. In the garden he came between God and Adam, But God already had a plan in place. He tried to kill Jesus through Herod, But God sent Joseph, Mary and Jesus to Egypt. He tried in the wilderness temptations; trying to get Jesus to be a different kind of Messiah than He had come to be. Jesus used the Word. He tried to use Peter to discourage Jesus when He told them that He was to be crucified. He used Judas to betray Him and Thomas to doubt Him, he used Pilot to execute Him, not knowing that that was exactly what was in God's plan. He used soldiers to guard His tomb and prevent the resurrection. Throughout history, since the Birth in Bethlehem, Satan has and will try to destroy both Israel and the church - that which Jesus came to establish. Up to the very end, when following the battle of Armageddon, he will be permanently put out of the way. Jesus tells us in John 10:10 “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life and have it to the full." and in John 16:33 "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."
