Waiting, Trusting, and Running

Isaiah 40:28-31; Prov. 3:5-6; Heb 12:1-2 Waiting, trusting, and running - probably among the most difficult hurdles to master in our Christian life. To wait for anything in the 20th century seems unthinkable, but God says that, "they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength..." What we forget so quickly is that time is not a barrier in God's economy. We can struggle with an issue for years, but yet in just a moment of time God can resolve the dilemma changing people and situations leaving us in awe. Closely related is the idea of trusting - as in "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding..." One really cannot wait on Him without trusting in Him. Trusting comes first of all by faith and then by experience. Often that leap of faith comes because we find ourselves against a brick wall that we can't climb - we just don't have an answer and there is no choice but to trust in Him. Over the years we discover that He is faithful and that trusting can be an exciting way of life. (The brick walls do still come from time to time). Running is a fooler. Almost anyone can run, read about Ahimaaz, II Samuel 18:19ff, a man who ran without a message. Rather we need to run as pointed out in Heb. 12:1ff "...therefore let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us." The enemy would have us to be worn out running here and there accomplishing absolutely nothing for the kingdom. We need to run His race, but that only happens through waiting and trusting.
