We Are God’s Treasure Chests

II Corinthians 4:7-12 When we think of ourselves as “jars” of clay that hold a priceless treasure, it should leave us with an attitude of humility. The source of the treasure is God. The ownership of the treasure belongs to God. The purpose of the treasure is God’s. Our part in the picture is to be a fragile container, which is also provided by God. We are fragile because of our position as a speck in time and space and also because of our vulnerability. Much of the value and usefulness of the treasure is dependent on how big of a percentage our flesh nature takes in proportion to God’s treasure contained in our “jar". The purer the treasure the greater the impact on our generation for Christ. The harder I try with my human abilities the less effective the contents become; but the more I position myself to be at God’s disposal, the more I keep the open part of my “jar" before Him for His filling and refilling, the more I allow Him to leak out of me to those around me, the more I shield myself (or allow Him to shield me) from the sludge of the world; the more valuable will be the contents of my jar Only the contents of the "jar" that have spilled out on those around me will have any kind of lasting affect after I’m gone. What is left inside will die and leave with me. There is a kind of sunglasses that are worn by some people that when you look into their eyes, all you can see is a reflection of yourself, you don’t see the wearer’s eyes at all. We need to wear the kind of glasses that people will neither see us nor themselves reflected, but Jesus when they look at us. I believe the best formula for accomplishing this are the words of 2 Chronicles. 7:14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
