Being Equipped for the Valley

In Matt. 17:1 ff, we read about the Mount of Transfiguration experience of Peter, James and John. Then came the experience in the valley, and we see them ill equipped to meet the need. Jesus said, regarding their inability, "because you have so little faith"... They never put the two together. In our own experience, after the mountain top comes the valley, but should we enter the valley first before seeking to meet the Lord on the mountain top? How often do we go unprepared into the battle only to be soundly defeated and discouraged? Let' s put the two together. The mountain is not just a serving of desert to be gluttonously consumed, although these times of intimate fellowship are for us to enjoy. But they also prove to be an essential gaining of perspective and an equipping for the battle that will come. Have you ever gotten a check in the mail and then along comes an unexpected bill? Perhaps you felt cheated that the bill came along to destroy your blessing, not realizing that God was providing the substance to meet your need.
