It is Time 2

Luke 19:28-48 Jesus prepares for the last week of life on this earth. He knows full well that by the close of the week the vast majority of the people will have rejected Him and be calling for His crucifixion. Is it any wonder that in approaching Jerusalem, amid the shouts of Hosanna and all the palm branches, He stops and weeps over the city saying, "If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace but now it is hidden from your eyes..." (verse 42) He looks forward in history and sees what their rejection is going to cost. It will certainly cost His life on the cross by the end of the week. And in less than 40 years it will cost the city itself as the Romans will level it under Titus in 70 AD. It will cost 2000 plus more years as they we wait for the second return of the Messiah. I'm sure He was also looking backwards to Moses' time, when the 12 spies came back with their reports and the majority came with, "We can't do it, the enemy is too strong." Moses could have said a similar thing to Jesus' response, "If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace but now it is hidden from your eyes..." They spent 40 more years in the wilderness, and all those 20 years old and older died. Jesus proceeded into the city and stopped at the temple. He turned over the tables of the money changers they too had completely missed the point. They had made God's house a place of business instead of a place of prayer. One day the Triumphal entry won't be a dry run, Jesus is returning in power and majesty. He will be returning as King of kings and Lord of lords. (see Revelation 19:11 16). This second return hasn't happened yet. It is time now for you and I to get it right. Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, are they places of prayer? Is He only to be Lord and King when He returns or are we practicing His Lordship in our live in the here and now? Are we into praising and worshiping Him now or we going to let the rocks cry out in our place? (Verse 40)
