Let the Word of Christ Dwell in You Richly
Last week we talked about the Peace of Christ that we need to allow to rule in our hearts. The passage goes on to say that we must let the Word of Christ dwell in us richly as we interact together. It is the Word of Christ that gives us the commonality together so that our peace has a common foundation. Words are powerful, they can build up or they can destroy; they can instill hope or despair. How many times have each of us said something in anger or frustration that we'd give our right arm to have unsaid, but the words found their mark? Words can be repented of and wounds healed, but how much better to be able to avoid unkind words. The passage doesn't just say to know a lot of scripture. Let the word of Christ live (dwell) in you richly. If it lives in us then it will begin to have an effect on our life style, our attitudes, our speech, etc. Next the verse says to teach and admonish one another with all wisdom. Our words then must come from a reservoir at peace, filled with the Word of Christ, and dispensed with all wisdom in order to build up. One of the vehicles for doing this is with Psalms and Hymns and Spiritual Song Never underestimate the power of God's Word as music or verse in accomplishing miracles not otherwise possible. Finally, whether it's in word or action let it be done in the name of the Lord Jesus. In His authority, after His nature. and under His Lordship.
