Not Enough!

Hosea 10:12 “Sow for yourselves righteousness, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the Lord, until he comes and showers righteousness on you.” It is not enough to just be good and not sin; and it's not enough to just do great things for God. To be God's "good little boy or girl" sounds so noble. The truth is that there is nothing that we can "do" for God that He couldn't do for Himself. To think that we could is prideful and arrogant on our part. God wants a relationship with us. He wants to live in us and through us, He wants to work in us and through us. I think of the "Big Boy" restaurant on South Westnedge. It is torn down except for the roof and a few supporting members, I presume that this allows the new residents to build according to their needs. We need to allow God to remodel and rebuild or lives to suit His intended use of us. Although the renovation process is painful, it is not only to God’s best interests but ours as well. Our best work will only build a shack, His, a mansion. The picture in Hosea is a farmer and his field. The beginning of the verse talks about sowing righteousness, but righteousness only comes from seeking the Lord (last part of verse) and having the unplowed ground broken up and prepared for planting.
