What's in Your Hand?
Exodus 4:1-5 "What is that in your hand?" How many times have you heard someone say, "If I won the lottery, I would build a church, etc., etc. “If I had, ... I would." God does not make us accountable for what we don't have, unless, of course, we had something and lost it through foolishness. We are responsible for what we do have. In fact, the scripture says, in Luke 12:48 "From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; Jesus fed the 5,000 with the loaves and fish that the boy had. God used the staff that Moses had to help lead the children of Israel out of Egypt. The lame man at the temple was healed using the faith that Peter & John had. It will be noted in each case that as people used what they had, God blended what He had with it and produced some rather miraculous results. In the Psalms we sometimes read, “Sing unto the Lord a new song." Do you think that perhaps offering the things we have unto God in His service may, in a manner of speaking be, singing unto Him a new song? When you want to offer something to God and feel that you have nothing, take another inventory. Ask God about it. I'd be willing to bet that between the two of you, you will find something totally unique, that God is saying, "use this." It may sound totally crazy, but if you can dare trust Him, you and those around you will be blessed, and God will be praised.
