Who is My Family?
The question is very much like the one that was asked of Jesus: "Who is my Neighbor?" The answer to the neighbor question, of course is the one who one encounters that needs the love, aid or service that we have to give. The family, on the other hand, as it is used in Acts 10:2 of Cornelius, is from the Greek word oikos Which means household and refers to those people within our sphere of influence. It is the same word that is used n Acts 16:31, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved you and your household." The lives of Cornelius and the Philippian jailer had an impact on the lives of their family, friends, and associates. Cornelius had his oikos gathered when he called Peter. Do you suppose that it was because he took the words that God had spoken to him seriously and cared enough about the folks whose lives he touched that he wanted them to hear too? Paul assumed that the jailer would impact his people the same way. Do you think that God may have the same plan for you and I? Does our relationship with Christ mean enough to us that we live a consistent life of integrity before them with a view to reaching them for Christ? Could you be convicted of an L.U.I. Living Under the Influence of Christ.
