Bloom where you' re planted
Philippians 4:11-13. This phrase describes a pattern of living that would be valuable for us to consider as we travel down life's highway. It is good to have dreams and goals, but when one is so caught up with what will be in the future that he misses all that today and its contents hold; the future he dreams of will not likely come to pass. God certainly has a future for His children, but He has given them the present to prepare for it. Often, we think, when such and such happens then I will do so and so; but "such and such" never seem to come about just right so we never get around to "so and so". It is amazing that we usually have no trouble at all sinning with gusto in almost any given place. It is in regard to sin that we need to practice our approach avoidance; our putting off until tomorrow, etc. I believe that God's desire for us is that we be His person where ever we find ourselves, to the full extent of the grace that He gives us. When a flower blooms it will always be the flower of the plant it grows from. I.e. tulips grow from tulip bulbs and roses grow from rose bushes, etc. If your "flowers" don't look like Jesus, better check again what kind of plant you really are. Remember anyone can be a "cut flower", but they die and their beauty fades; but to bloom one needs to be planted and send down roots. You don't like all the circumstances you find yourself in, just remember that an acorn in the process of becoming a tree can move a sidewalk. Paul said it well in Philippians 4:11-13 "... I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength." Where are you right now? Bloom right where you are. Let the character of Jesus shine in your blossoms.
