You Are the Temple!
John 15:9-17 Verse 16 says, "You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you and appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last” So often our top priority is survival, it seems like so often we're moving from one crisis to another. We're rushing here or there and doing this or that. Did God call us to go places and do things? We want to Do for God when God wants us to Be for Him. Jesus told His disciples that He wanted them to bear fruit that would last, in other words, fruit that would be there after they were gone. Fruit from trees and plants are the natural result of being alive. The kind of fruit depends on what kind of plant it came from. In the fruit are the seeds for future generations of growth. The kind of fruit that we bear will depend on the kind of life were living. The fruit that we leave behind will not be the wonderful islands of experience that we have had, as great as they might have been. What people will remember is a composite of our character which will be made up primarily of the way we handled difficult situations and difficult people, our good attitudes and our bad attitudes, our integrity or lack of it. We need to remember that our bad attitudes and failures will be remembered far more clearly than the good we do. When we wear the label of Christian, we say that what we are is what Christ is. Let us, as God enables us, seek to leave behind fruit, both material and spiritual, that bear the character of the real Jesus.
