Crucified with Christ!

Paul's testimony that he gives in GAL 2:20: "I have been crucified with Christ and l no longer live; but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body. I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me." gives us profound insight as to what it means to walk in grace through faith. We tend to be very doing oriented people. At work we get paid an hourly wage because we do certain things. Students get passing grades because they do their assignments in a way acceptable to the teacher In Christ the formula works a bit differently. Eph. 2:8 9 tells us that "...it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God not by works. so that no one can boast." Our relationship with God is first of all by grace (God's unmerited favor). It is not possible to earn something that is unmerited. Secondly: The only way that we can enter in to such a relationship is through faith (believing that what God did in Christ he did for you.) As we live as though this were true, even though there is nothing we can see or hear with our physical senses, we bear witness to the fact that there is a relationship between us and God. The only way that this kind of life works is for Christ to live His life through us and the only way for that to happen is for us to be crucified with Christ. It would be very nice if our crucifixion were a once for all thing, the truth is it is a daily declaration. Today I reckon myself dead and once again I give the keys of my life to Jesus.
