Romans 5:1-11 Without faith in the promises of God there would be absolutely nothing to rejoice about. All we would have would be the problems and the hardships of our daily lives, and the future of a world that is falling apart at an alarming rate. We need only one key on our key ring that is the key of "faith". Without it is hopelessness, but with it we have access to the treasures of the Kingdom of God. This faith is not faith in just anything, but it is faith in Jesus Christ and His finished work on the Cross. By using this faith key, we are justified by and have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. With this faith key we have access to the grace of God in which we already stand. God makes His grace available to us through the use of this "faith key." We can rejoice in the hope of the glory of God, because it has been deposited in the bank of heaven in our account. How many "checks" do we fail to write, because we forget what God has made available to us through the Word. There is a second part to our rejoicing - the rejoicing in our sufferings. Read in verses 4 & 5 about the profit that we accrue through our sufferings for the kingdom. There is no profit for just passing through the "meat-grinder" of life. It comes through putting to use that key of faith and moving through our troubles by holding firm to His promises and standing in His grace. We can know that He will lead us to the other side in victory.
