Come with Confidence

Heb. 4:14-16. Jesus, through His death, burial and resurrection has opened a way for us to approach the throne of grace with confidence. Under the old covenant the high priest would enter an earthly tabernacle with the blood of animals to cover sin, but because Jesus entered the tabernacle in heaven with His own perfect blood, our sins are washed completely away. (Read Heb. 9:11-28, esp.v.12) We need to approach the throne of God, certainly humbly, but bravely. Not because we hope these things are true, but because we know it. Isn't it comforting to know that He understands our weaknesses and temptations? The Word says that He was tempted in every way, just as we are. The difference is that He was tempted and yet did not sin. It is not that He just winks at our stumbles, but because He understands, He provides that open door into His presence so that we can find the resources we need to overcome victoriously, when the enemy would tear us apart. James 4:7&8 Says, "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and He will come near to you." Let us begin to take advantage of the riches that have been provided for us.
