Feeling Alone
I Kings 19:1 18 Have you ever felt like you were the only one trying to do things right. Perhaps you've even felt like the leadership has been dropping the ball. You try to do right, and things just don't seem to work out. Sometimes you may even feel like God has turned a deaf ear. That's how the prophet Elijah felt after the big contest on Mt. Carmel when God answered by fire and the 450 prophets of Baal were killed. God had even answered his prayer for rain after the 3-year drought. Jezebel the king's wife put out a price on his head and he ran for his life. Notice the lie of Satan. Things couldn't have gone much better, he and God was a team. Someone had a problem with what he was doing, true, she does want him killed; but his batting average has been pretty good. The lie, everything is wrong, everyone is against you, and you are all alone in this thing. You've tried your best and no one cares. God let him run, but when he came to the end God came to him in a still small voice. Elijah is reminded that there are 7,000 who haven't bowed their knee to Baal. The real truth is that we also are not alone. One failure or one obstacle doesn't end the game, God is still in control. Often the bigger the lie the bigger the victory that God has around the corner. They that wait upon the Lore shall renew their strength. Isaiah 40:31.
